The Best Sweet Potato Pie Recipe Ever
The best sweet potato pie recipe ever is not for the calorie conscious. The secret to that great taste lies in the richness of the ingredients. The little extra attention during the preparation pays off in the end with a delicious and fluffy pie. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. Wash one pound of sweet potatoes, then carefully prick each potato with a fork to allow heat to escape during baking. Remove your sweet potatoes from the oven and set them aside until they are cool enough to handle. Turn the heat on your oven down to 375 degrees F. Prepare your pie crust now by placing an unbaked pie crust in a nine inch pie pan. Set that aside until you’re ready to use it. Once you are able to handle your sweet potatoes, carefully scrape the potato away from the skin. Put the potato flesh into a medium bowl. Discard the skins. Add one half cup of melted butter to the bowl. Mix the two ingredients together well. Add in one cup of white sugar, one half cup of heavy cream, two large eggs, a tablespoon of maple syrup, a half teaspoon of ground nutmeg, a half teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix at a medium speed until all ingredients are well-combined. The mixture should be smooth and creamy at this point. Carefully pour your batter into your waiting pie crust. Bake at 375 degrees F for fifty to seventy minutes. Check to see if the pie is done by inserting a knife or toothpick into the center of the pie. If the knife or toothpick comes out clean, the pie is done. Allow the pie to cool for fifteen to twenty minutes before serving. Garnish with a dollop of whip cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon over the top. |
